Hey brand builders, Elle here. Today’s topic is about how do you stay sane throughout this entire brand building process.

Really this message is for that person who hasn’t even started yet to the person who is well on their way. The person who hasn’t started yet typically has had this idea brewing and this passion inside of them, but they haven’t gotten started because of doubt, not having enough knowledge, maybe other people speaking down into their lives, but for some reason or another they haven’t started yet. And then that person who is well on their way might have you know, over 500,000 followers and they’re trying to launch something new and it’s just not working. It does not matter where you are in the process. You both are experiencing an emotional roller coaster and there are many peaks and valleys throughout this entire process of building your brand and that’s so normal.

I just wanted to share with you four quick tips on how to keep your sanity. Now, these tips are not going to be earth-shattering things you haven’t heard before, but I just wanted to subtly remind you.  A friendly reminder just how important they really are!

4 Tips on How to Keep Your Sanity when Building a Brand

My first tip is probably my favorite.  Community. You 100% need to be in a community of people that get what you’re doing, support what you’re doing and they’re there to encourage you and give you insight. Now at Brand Builders Group, we offer membership groups that have a community aspect to it. They start as low as $99 a month. But again, some of you are not there where you can invest that money yet and that’s okay. Either way, utilize other resources. There is meetup.com that you can go to. There are Facebook membership groups, LinkedIn groups. Whatever it might be, the important thing here is that you need to find a community that encourages you.

The second thing that you need to keep in mind is looking for the lessons in each part of this. We’re going to have what we would consider “failure” from time to time as we’re building out our business. But what you really need to do, what it takes, when you have one of those experiences where you feel like you fail, is to pull yourself away and do a deep dive into it.

Don’t ignore it.

Don’t pretend it never happened.

Deep dive into it.

Ask yourself, ‘Where did I go wrong?’ or

‘Where might have missed the boat?’  or

‘What do I need to do next time?’

But along the way of looking for the lessons, also look for what you’re doing right. Sometimes it’s just one or two little quick fixes that will make all the difference. But you have to reflect and look at it so you can learn, grow, and do better next time.

Now after you’ve done that, the third tip is to forget about it. No one else is going to remember the fact that something didn’t go the way you thought. Or you promoted this one thing and they never heard about it again. No one else is going to remember that unless you’re the one who brings it up. So after you’ve learned from it, move the heck on. Brush it off your shoulder and give yourself some grace and march on.

And the last tip is to look for stories from other people. If you’re not quite ready to talk about it with anyone, or maybe you have, but it’s just not enough, and you’re starting to get down on yourself again, look for other people’s stories.

What do I mean by that?  The best example is, I got fired last year in 2018. That day…not the best day of my life, not the best day of my year. But, the next morning, I woke up and for some reason, this thought was placed in my heart.

How many other crazy successful women out there have once been fired from what they thought was their dream career?

I started researching. What I realized was how many people’s stories are out there. They had a career and got fired. And then went on to do something even more incredible and fulfilling for their lives than they were ever doing before. So what could have been this life-altering event that kept you stuck, really is something that can propel you to doing something even greater that you never even thought you would.

I found these stories encouraging. I found them inspiring. They gave me hope when I struggled to have hope.

I would just say, look for other people that have gone through your journey, and are now on the other side of it. They can speak freshness into your life and give hope into your life. Print these stories. Put them where you need to see them.

We are all in this together. You are not alone. You have people that believe in you. And more importantly than that, you have people that need your message. So stay sane. Don’t get discouraged. And we’ll see you later.
