Are you frustrated with your progress when it comes to building your brand?

Do you feel disappointed with the lack of social assets you have to share with the world?

Are you on the verge of giving up?

If you said yes to any of these, you need to read this, reread it, internalize it, and truly understand the hardest truth you will hear when it comes to building a personal brand.

Patience

The number one characteristic that you need to develop is patience. And yes, I get it, you’re not a patient person. BUT, patience is different than time. It does NOT have to take a lot of time to launch your brand however it does take a lot of patience.

It takes patience with yourself to go through the exercises of finding truly what your uniqueness is and what problem does it solve. You will second guess it, get stuck, rework it, and struggle to find the one thing. But you will.

It takes patience to find the maturity within yourself to not skip steps. The fun part is the results, but the hard part is the process it takes to get there. This is why so many brands never launch, why so many messages never get heard, and why people quit before they ever really start.

It takes patience to grow in the areas that don’t come naturally to you. Maybe you don’t believe that you are a great writer, so you refuse to even try. Or you hate the sound of your voice, so you won’t record the video funnel. Maybe you don’t like the way you look on camera, so you keep putting off that photoshoot. You get the idea I’m sure.

2 Choices

But I can promise you if you are mad about where you are in your brand journey. You have 2 choices. You can continue to half-ass it and go the path of least resistance. OR you can buck up, reassess, and realize that you are not just putting out a personal brand for fun. You are building a business. And not just any business. A business that serves people, that has a message that people need to hear, and a business that will change lives. Do you really want to give up now?

Here are just 4 quick ideas to help yourself get back to the fired-up, committed person you were when you first started:

1. Get Organized

You have sheets of paper everywhere, documents upon documents saved on your computer, notes on your phone, and everything is everywhere. Your creativity is always hindered when you have no idea what you’ve done or what needs to get done. Take this time to create a spot where everything is!

2. Set Small Goals

Have a master list of everything that needs to happen with your brand development and exactly what it includes for each step. Then commit to what from that list you will get done each week. It can be 1 thing or 10, it doesn’t matter. You get to decide your pace. We know consistency wins every time.

3. Be Intentional

Schedule uninterrupted time in a space that feels good to you. No one is going to call you and tell you that today you have to work on your brand. You have to decide to do it. This can be 30 minutes or an entire day, again – it’s your journey, so you choose.

4. Have Standards

It’s one thing to talk the talk, it’s another to walk it. People can tell the difference. Look at who you want to be and what you want people to think of when they think of you. This will inspire you more than anything.
